All Amadeus

The Oregon Mozart Players will present on Saturday, February 28, 2009 (8 PM) and Sunday, March 1 (2:30 PM) its annual tribute to Mozart, the
All Amadeus concert. Both performances will be in Soreng Theater at the Hult Center.

The concert features Oregon Bach Festival favorite Allan Vogel, joining the orchestra in Mozart's Concerto for Oboe in C Major, K. 314. This is one of Mozart's best loved compositions, being played by one of the world's great oboists.

The concert will open with Mozart's light-hearted Divertimento No. 11, a piece he is thought to have dedicated to his sister, Nannerl. After the Oboe Concerto, the concert will conclude with one of Mozart's best known "Sturm and Drang" symphonies, No. 25 in G minor, the first movement of which was used to set the tone in the film Amadeus.

English Trifle

The Oregon Mozart Players, conducted by Glen Cortese, presents “English Trifle.” Like the famous dessert, our concert is a delicious, multi-layered concoction of chamber orchestra music with a British flavor. Alice Blankenship is the featured violin soloist in Ralph Vaughan Williams’ lyrical The Lark Ascending. The concert also includes Mozart’s Symphony No. 1, written during a visit to London, as well as Haydn’s final symphony, the “London,” plus works by British composers Gustav Holst and Edward Elgar.
